Calling All Angels Project 2013…

This year we’ve decided to do something similar to last year’s Calling All Angels project and mix it up by also giving you the option to send the blankets to us since we are in a pretty stable place right now.

We are giving you the decision to do what you prefer, either donate them to local hospitals or send them to us. We will update you soon with the PO Box address if you would like to send them to us.

We have also added a printable donation letter that you can print off and take with you to the hospital you donate to so that they can share with other families the reason we started donating blankets and feel the comfort and support of others who have gone through something similar.

We are so touched that Calling All Angels is still going and it is because people like you! We are so very blessed to have been the benefactors of such service when we lost our son Jayden and we want to give back as much as we can.

You can rally together and do a local “Calling All Angels” in your area by spreading the news to your family, town, church members, co-workers and friends OR you can send them our way.

We are excited to see how this turns out and can’t wait to hear/see how many blankets get donated this year. I’m starting to work on mine and I’m SO excited!

Results are in…

Calling All Angels results are in… unless we get some late emails from people who donated—which is totally fine, don’t feel guilty just email us soon so we can count yours in! People from all across the country donated 635 blankets to their local hospitals.

 

We are so very grateful to all you donated this year and we can’t express how wonderful it is that so many hospitals were benefited by donating blankets. 

We could not do this without all of you. Our hearts our full. You all have shown us that there really are so many wonderful people in the world. Thank you for touching our lives and the lives of those who will be receiving this special gift of love.

I’m not gonna lie I was a little nervous about this year since we did it differently than previous years  but I really like the thought of so many hospitals getting blankets so for now I think we will continue doing it this way (you can always ship the blankets to us if you prefer and we’ll donate them for you) and I’ll be working on a form letter people can print off and take with them to the hospitals next year so that the families receiving the blankets know they aren’t alone in their hardships and that the hospitals also realize why this organization was started.

I’ll let ya know when I have it done!

Q & A for Calling All Angels Project...

Here is some additional information for this year's Calling All Angels Project.

Q: How do we go about donating to our local hospital?

A:  In previous years I just called the hospitals and asked for the labor and delivery unit or NICU and then asked them if they accepted baby blanket donations and if so if they had any specifications on type of material, size, etc. Also it would be good to find out where you would drop them off at.
I'm pretty sure all hospitals accept baby blanket donations at least all the one's I've ever called have :)

Q: When is the drop off date?

A: You can drop off the blankets whenever is convenient for you we just ask that they be dropped off by June 1st, 2012. That way we can tally the number of blankets donated and give you the results of this year’s Calling All Angels :)

Q: What do we do after we’ve donated the blankets?

A: Please email us at {nealandangie@gmail.com} after you have donated your blankets and tell us the following:
1. How many blankets were donated—there is no pressure here, one blanket is just as great as a lot of blankets so don’t think that if you can only donate one blanket that you shouldn’t participate in Calling All Angels! Just think your one blanket will go to one baby…every blanket matters!
2. Where you donated the blanket(s)
3. Please send us a picture with the blanket(s) for our yearly Calling All Angels video.
4.  (These last two are optional) If you donated in behalf of  a little angel baby or babies we’d love to include their name and picture in our video.
5. (Again optional)Video yourself delivering the blankets and email it to us and we can include it in the video.

We are excited to see how this works out for this year’s project and can’t express our gratitude enough for joining with us in reaching out to serve!

Calling All Angels 2011…

Calling All Angels 2011 was a huge success.  This video showcases the amount of support given by so many people.  Our greatest fear is that we aren't able to show how thankful we are to everybody that helped out.  We know there will be pictures of people that we missed on the video and names that we didn't include. 
There were many people who we didn't have a chance to thank in the video.  AThriftymom.com helped us out  by spreading the word.  JenMarissa promoted us on her Youtube channel. Josh and Alex helped design logos.  Shaela helped with our blog button.  And the list goes on and on......
Please forgive us if we did not include you.  We are so thankful to each and every one of you. 

Spreading the word…

We wanted to spread the word about one of Neal’s classmates who contacted us after her best friend died from complications due to child birth. Her husband Will and son Bodie are in financial need to help pay medical costs, you can donate The Johnson Memorial Fund.

This Year’s Calling All Angels Project…

This year we’ve decided to do something a little different for Calling All Angels, due to us moving a lot for Neal’s Optometry school rotations, we won’t have a permanent address so we’ve worked up another idea.

We feel that Calling All Angels, is a place where we can “CALL ON ANGELS”  to join with us in serving others. We are so very blessed to have been the benefactors of such service when we lost our son Jayden and we want to give back.

So this year we are “CALLING ON YOU” and ask that you deliver the baby blankets that you would have mailed to us to your local hospital.

You can rally together and do a local “Calling All Angels” in your area by spreading the news to your family, town, church members, co-workers and friends OR you can always  just donate your blankets by delivering them yourself.

Joy of Service…

So I’ve decided that I’m going to try and do more service and I’ve decided I wanted to start it off with OPERATION BLANKET DROP…

If you didn’t get enough with donating blankets for our “Calling All  Angels” then here’s your chance to donate more :0)

The Haag Family lost their son  Ammon Paul, 5 years ago.  He was born too early to live longer than his precious 7 minutes.  They are donating in honor of his birthday.

That’s the total number of blankets we received this year for Calling All Angels! We were so completely amazed with the amount of blankets we got! THANK YOU-- THANK YOU-- THANK YOU to all of you wonderful “Angels” that made this possible! We have had some incredible experiences and are again in awe at Heavenly Father’s tender mercies!

Because of great response we donated to 5 places this year. We donated to CHOC (Children’s Hospital of Orange County), Miller’s Children Hospital, Ronald McDonald House, UCI hospital’s NICU, and Crittendon ( a children and family center).

Calling All Angels Q&A Video

We made a video with all the commonly asked questions….Hope you enjoy watching our nerdy little selfs :)

Someone else asked if we were going to try to have another baby…Well of course we are! We’ve been trying since Jayden was born, it wasn’t easy getting pregnant with Jayden either and we know it’s in Heavenly Father hands. We’re praying and hopeful that it will happen soon.

FAQ’s about Donating Blankets…

Question:  Does the Blanket need to be a specific size?
Answer: No, it can be any size you want.

Question 2: Does the Blanket need to be made out of a certain material?
Answer: Nope, as long as the material is new and unused, it's good to go.

Question 3: Does the Blanket need to be made, or can I buy a blanket?
Answer: You can buy the blanket, or make it, which ever you prefer.

Question 4: Where do we send or drop off blankets? Is there a deadline of when the blankets are needed?
Answer:

*Mail them to Neal and Angie PO Box 5963 Fullerton, CA 92838-5963
{We will be donating the blankets on May 30, so if you could  please send the blanket(s) with enough time to get to us by then}

**Drop them off at Angie’s parents house if you know where they live. (If you don’t know where they live but know you live close, email us and we can send you their address).

Angie's parents will need the blankets by March 31, 2011.  They will be bringing us the blankets in April.

Question 5: Where do we send our pictures with the blanket?

A Heartfelt Thanks...

This is the second year we would like to donate blankets for "Calling All Angels." We made this video so people that didn't hear about it last year can hear about it this year. We will be delivering the blankets on May 30, 2011, Memorial Day. We are so thankful for everybody's participation and love. Spread the video around so people can hear about it.

“Calling All Angels”

We just wanted to thank everyone who helped us do this service project in honor of Jayden’s 1st birthday. It meant the world to us and we got almost 100 blankets!!!

My husband and I wanted to do a service project in honor of our son Jayden’s 1 year birthday. He was born at 23 weeks old on May 30, 2009 and was just too small to pull through.
We posted the service idea on our blog and entitled it “Calling All Angels” asking anyone that wanted to could help by donating baby blankets. We were overwhelmed by the outpouring of support we received by so many, friends, family, and even strangers.
We decided to donate the blankets to a hospital particularly a NICU for premature babies as I know how meaningful the blankets that Jayden was wrapped in are to us. It is something physical I was able to take home with me and that I can pull out and hold when I’m missing him.
We feel the blankets are symbolic because as we were waiting for Jayden to be born, the hospital staff, family and friends surrounded us with their support, love and warmth, just as blankets bring love and warmth to the babies they are wrapped around.

Calling All Angels Update...

We will be donating the baby blankets to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center's (EIRMC) NICU (neonatal intensive care unit). There are no specifications for the size of blanket or type of material. You can make the blankets or buy them. EIRMC will give the blankets to families or use them in the nursery.

If you are helping I would love to get a picture of you with your blanket(s). Neal wants to make a video of this and we'd love to have you in it! If you feel comfortable enough to send me a picture of you with your blanket(s) I would LOVE it! Email me your pictures at angie(dot)guymon(at)gmail(dot)com.

I'm so excited to be doing this and feel it's helping me have something to look forward to instead of dreading. I wish there was more I could do to express my appreciation for all of you who are helping, it means the world to us!

Calling All Angels…

Ok, so I have an idea for a service project I want to do and you are more than welcome to participate in it with me. My son Jayden’s 1 year birthday is on May 30 and I wanted to do something in honor of him. This song is what I want to call the service project: "Calling All Angels" (lyrics at bottom of post)
I’ve decided to donate BABY BLANKETS to a local hospital, shelter, or wherever (I haven’t really decided where I can/want to yet).
If you want to help, you can donate a blanket or blankets by making or buying them and bring them to me and I will take them to the place I find to donate them. There are no specifications for the blankets on what size, type of material, etc.
I’m leaning towards a hospital particularly a NICU for premature babies as I know how meaningful the blankets I have of Jayden’s are. It is something physical I was able to  take home with me and that I can pull out and hold when I’m missing him.

Truslow Park Service and a little early Birthday Goodness...

This morning we went and did a community service project. It was building a playground at Truslow Park in Fullerton. There were over 300 volunteers and the playground gets built, painted, and landscaped all in one day! It was amazing to see so many people come together and make a difference.





This afternoon my good friends Ami, Sarah, AubRee, and Shonee took me out to lunch for my Birthday, (which is this coming Wednesday). We went to Chilis and I got this amazing free desert! Thank you to you all --it was fun!




SIDE NOTES:
1.We felt our first, second and third Earthquakes! It was pretty crazy feeling. They didn't last long and nothing fell off the walls or anything crazy. The apartment just shook. One was 3.8 and another was a 4.0

2.My bosses gave me this beautiful flowering plant for Administrative Professional's Day which was April 22! I truly feel so blessed to have such a wonderful job.
3. Neal's brother Nephi and his friend Shawn came and stayed with us this last week to enjoy some California sunshine! They were great guests as always!
