Christmas Tag

Thanks Missy --this was a fun tag to do and got me more in the Christmas Spirit

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Wrapping paper--definitely.
2. Real tree or artificial? Call me lame but I'm all for the artificial, it's not so messy and all you need is a nice pine candle!

3. When do you put up the tree? The day after Thanksgiving

4. When do you take the tree down? Around New Year’s.

5. Do you like eggnog? Yep, but I can only handle a little

6. Favorite gift received as a child? Probably when me and my sisters all got HOT PINK beanbags chairs... but I'm not sure I'm having a hard time racking my brain with all the good Christmas gifts I got.

7. Hardest person to buy for? Neal

8. Easiest person to buy for? My sisters.

9. Do you have a nativity scene? I have two but I only brought one down here. The other one is ceramic and I painted it when I was in 4H, it is pretty dang cute if I might say!

11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? an ugly sweater

12. Favorite Christmas Movie? The Santa Claus (only the first one), ELF, and Miracle on 34th Street. . .

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? Around Thanksgiving

14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? No.

15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? Candied Almonds, chocolate covered pretzels, Carmel's, chocolate oranges, real oranges, hot chocolate with candy cane--all those yummy homemade goodies!

16. Lights on the tree? Of course, we have white because Neal and I had to negotiate because I grew up with multicolored and he grew up with blue lights on his tree so we went with white...and I think that was a great choice :)

17. Favorite Christmas song? Probably Where Are You Christmas and O Holy Night

18. Travel at Christmas or stay home? Definitely HOME.

19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer? Yep all I gotta do is sing the famous song!

20. Angel on the tree top or a star? I actually have a Santa on top of ours

21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? PJ's on Christmas Eve and the rest on Christmas morning

22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year? I hate how busy it is in town and how fast this time of the year goes by--I feel like I have no time to just relax and enjoy it.

23. Favorite ornament theme or color? An angel holding a star that I got from my Grandma and Grandpa Olsen when I was little.

24. Favorite for Christmas dinner? Rolls, ham and funeral potatoes

25. Favorite family Christmas tradition? There are so many...getting a new ornament each year, getting new PJ's, waiting by my parents bedroom door while they wrapped Christmas presents and once they had one wrapped for each of us girls they would stick them outside of their door and then we would examine our gifts as we carried them to under the tree, new Christmas dress when I was younger, orange in the stocking and favorite chips and candy, going to look at Christmas lights on Christmas Eve to make the time go by faster and then come home to yummy hot chocolate. Oh and this one I love...we had a manger with pieces of straw and each day we would do something nice for one of the members of our family secretly and leave a piece of straw where we had done the good deed and once they found it they would place it in the manager and by Christmas the manger was full for baby Jesus.

Tag...I'm it!

I was tagged by AubRee

So I'm supposed to say 5 weird things about me. . .

1. I have an unrealistic fear of deep water. I think it has something to do with SHARKS! I just hate not being able to touch in water...which is only about 5 feet for me !

2. I have one arm shorter than the other, and I use it as an excuse as much as possible :)

3. I have a weird thing with numbers. When I was younger I would look at the time and see what it divided into. (Example: if it was 9:27 AM I would think 9 goes into 27-- 3 times) I also used to count my steps to 10 and then start all over again...it got really annoying and I'm glad I'm out of the habit.

4. I didn't like playing with barbies very much when I was younger but I was forced to by my older sister Holly!:) I always told her I would play and then when it came around to it I didn't feel like it. But she would always tell MOM that I had said I would play so I would have to. But when we did we would sometimes make barbie dresses out of paper towels.

5. I am a true born nerd...I admit it! I have been collecting the state quarters and I used to collect porcelain dolls when I was younger.I love to read too!

Randomness Tag...

I was tagged by Judy--who is like my second mom--Love you!

Random #1: I got to babysit little cute Eva the Diva last week (October 15) while her parents The Neville's went to the temple. It was so fun and she was a great baby! Don't you just want to squeeze her?! This is the only way I could get her to drink her bottle...at least it worked right? Random #2: I am working on a new project...I'm going to make a headboard for our bed. My friend Sarah had one and I really wanted to make one. Here are the instructions if you are interested. I won't be finishing it until November but I'll show you the finished product. I promise! This is the fabric I decided to do to add a little color to my room! I'm excited to see how it turns out.

Padded Headboard
Measure width of bed frame; determine desired width of headboard. Queen size bed = 5’

From lumber yard (Home Deport/Lowe’s), purchase:
1 - 4’x 8’ sheet of ¼” plywood
1 – 4’ x 8’ sheet of foam board insulation (I used 1 ½” thickness)
Lumber Yard will cut sheets to the size you need.

From fabric store, purchase:
Quilt batting (twin size bed)
Upholstery fabric (60” wide). For 5’ queen size headboard = 2 yards

Other supplies:
Staple Gun/staples
Hammer

Assembly:
Open batting up. If there is enough, double batting so there are two layers. Lay flat on floor.
Centered on top of batting, first the foam board insulation; then the plywood.
Bring batting up and over the edges to the plywood; staple into plywood.
Repeat process with fabric. Lay flat; center headboard on the fabric; wrap over edges and staple into plywood.

Random # 3: Super Saturday Crafts. Just thought I'd post the cute things I did at Super Saturday.

These are tiles just stamped and then colored in. I am using them as decorations but they can be used as coasters too! I also did these wood blocks in fall colors with the saying "Give Thanks" I think they turned out pretty cute.
Random # 4: We got into Bond Housing! We are moving on Nov. 15th and it will cut our rent in half! Whoo hoo!!!! It's in the same complex we are in now just in a different apartment. Moving is a pain but it's definitely worth it for 1/2 the rent!

Random # 5: Neal's parents get to come and visit us for Thanksgiving! We are so thrilled to see family! They will be here for a week! I'm sure it will help with the homesick thing. Can't wait to see you Mom and Dad Guymon!

Random # 6: I'm a nerd. When I read books, that I really like (TWILIGHT for example), I get lost in them. I don't want to put them down and I lose my desire for food, sleep, and getting up to go to the bathroom is a pain!

Random # 7: Neal and I got a flat tire on Wednesday and had to get new tires for our car...talk about a dent in the pocketbook. But it was time for new tires anyways! Just a big pain and feels like a waste of money. Especially with our money being tight! Oh well, we still love life and each other.

I've been tagged....

For those of you who don't know how this works, here are the rules: A: Each player lists 6 facts/habits about themselves. B: At the end of the post, the player then tags 6 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leave them a comment, letting them know that they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog for these rules. Okay... so here we go...
1. I LOVE WATCHING...24, Heroes, The Office, Friends, Seinfeld, ok, so pretty much anything as long as my hubby Neal is there by my side, he's really the one to blame for me liking to watch most of these shows! :)
2. I AM A NUMBER FREAK. I'm not like nerdy, good at math numbers freak, but a good weird numbers freak. I count my steps (only sometimes), divide the numbers of what time it is, guess the temperature, memorize telephone numbers, license plates, etc. and just other random things...just know it's not nerdy, but a good weird!
3. I LOVE LISTS. I always have "To Do Lists" and "grocery lists" and "check-off lists" and I used to have "homework lists", you name it and I probably have had a list for it. Like right now I have a "Tire List" with a list of tires and their price range for Neal because his car needs new tires.
4. I GET LOST IN BOOKS. When I start reading something I really like, nothing else matters. I lose my appetite, need for sleep, and my connection with the world. (Only if it's a really good book) like Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse!
5. GAME NIGHT! I love playing games with friends and family, I'm usually up for just about any game ranging from cards to the Wii...I just love games, although sometimes I tend to get competitive.
6. I HAVE ONE ARM shorter than the other...seriously. I know it's weird, but hey, it's not my fault. It's not really that noticeable until I point it out either.
