OC Walk to Remember and some craftiness…

This was the second year I was able to participate in the OC Walk to Remember. I. Love. It. It’s such a great way to remember my sweet angel Jayden and honor him and “walk the steps he will never take”

  

I had some wonderful friends that walked with me since Neal had clinic and couldn’t go.  Thank you girls! I realize it was a sacrifice to come because 1. it was really early on a Saturday morning 2. It was raining 3. it took 4 hours out of their day ….so thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Bedroom Transformation…

So I saw a bed runner at a hotel we stayed at earlier this year and LOVED the idea so I decided to make one. A few months later… and I have finally finished it!

Had to get the approval from Neal on the decor pillow for the bed because he didn’t want something that was “TOO GIRLY”

Thanks to my amazingly talented dad, he designed the branch/leaf  thing you see on the green part of my bed runner. LOVE, love, love it! 

I still have a couple of ideas for above our bed that I’m still working on but I’m very happy with the way it turned out! Of course it’s far from perfect, but that’s what makes it “homemade” right?!

Trip Home…for 10 days…minus Neal and Jasper

I had the opportunity to go home while Neal was busy studying and taking tests. But 10 days I think may be TOO LONG to be away from my amazing Neal and sweetie Jasper.  I got really homesick for them….but that doesn’t mean I didn’t have a GREAT time at home! Here’s a little of what I did in Idaho:
*Girl’s weekend—my sisters and my mom had a girls weekend without husbands and kids….it was so FUN and will be a tradition! We ate yummy junk food, did lots of crafts , and stayed up until 4 am talking and giggling like school girls :o) My sisters and my mom are truly my best friends!
 
* Crafts….made hair bows/pins, Halloween themed table runner, button rings, and fabric pumpkins
 
*I practiced taking pictures with our new camera of my one year old nephew Kolbin…here’s a few of my favs:   
* Visited my awesome in-laws in Driggs

* I got my hair cut and colored…I’ve never really gotten my hair colored before so I was nervous but I decided to put red and honey colored tints in… and I like the results
*I had a sleep over with my niece Brooklyn and nephew Braxton @ my sister Holly’s house

*I ate out at all my favorite places that California doesn’t have like Bajos, Arctic Circle, and Papa Kelsey’s and tried some new restaurants, like 5 guys burgers and fries
*My Grandma Davies had her 76th b-day and we celebrated at my parents house with all the relatives
*Visited my sweet Jayden’s grave

 
I miss Fall in Idaho…all the trees were just beginning to change and were so beautiful!
Thanks for all the fun times family! Sure love you so much and can’t wait to see you again in a few months! I feel so grateful to have such wonderful family, and that I married into a wonderful family! What a blessing it is!

No- Knit Scarf

This is one of my latest projects! I really like how mine turned out and I loved how easy it was to do. All you do is tie knots...there is no knitting or crocheting! Thanks to Shonnee for letting me look through her magazine and get the idea to do it! Randomness Tag...

I was tagged by Judy--who is like my second mom--Love you!

Random #1: I got to babysit little cute Eva the Diva last week (October 15) while her parents The Neville's went to the temple. It was so fun and she was a great baby! Don't you just want to squeeze her?! This is the only way I could get her to drink her bottle...at least it worked right? Random #2: I am working on a new project...I'm going to make a headboard for our bed. My friend Sarah had one and I really wanted to make one. Here are the instructions if you are interested. I won't be finishing it until November but I'll show you the finished product. I promise! This is the fabric I decided to do to add a little color to my room! I'm excited to see how it turns out.

Padded Headboard
Measure width of bed frame; determine desired width of headboard. Queen size bed = 5’

From lumber yard (Home Deport/Lowe’s), purchase:
1 - 4’x 8’ sheet of ¼” plywood
1 – 4’ x 8’ sheet of foam board insulation (I used 1 ½” thickness)
Lumber Yard will cut sheets to the size you need.

From fabric store, purchase:
Quilt batting (twin size bed)
Upholstery fabric (60” wide). For 5’ queen size headboard = 2 yards

Other supplies:
Staple Gun/staples
Hammer

Assembly:
Open batting up. If there is enough, double batting so there are two layers. Lay flat on floor.
Centered on top of batting, first the foam board insulation; then the plywood.
Bring batting up and over the edges to the plywood; staple into plywood.
Repeat process with fabric. Lay flat; center headboard on the fabric; wrap over edges and staple into plywood.

Random # 3: Super Saturday Crafts. Just thought I'd post the cute things I did at Super Saturday.

These are tiles just stamped and then colored in. I am using them as decorations but they can be used as coasters too! I also did these wood blocks in fall colors with the saying "Give Thanks" I think they turned out pretty cute.
Random # 4: We got into Bond Housing! We are moving on Nov. 15th and it will cut our rent in half! Whoo hoo!!!! It's in the same complex we are in now just in a different apartment. Moving is a pain but it's definitely worth it for 1/2 the rent!

Random # 5: Neal's parents get to come and visit us for Thanksgiving! We are so thrilled to see family! They will be here for a week! I'm sure it will help with the homesick thing. Can't wait to see you Mom and Dad Guymon!

Random # 6: I'm a nerd. When I read books,that I really like (TWILIGHT for example), I get lost in them. I don't want to put them down and I lose my desire for food, sleep, and getting up to go to the bathroom is a pain!

Random # 7: Neal and I got a flat tire on Wednesday and had to get new tires for our car...talk about a dent in the pocketbook. But it was time for new tires anyways! Just a big pain and feels like a waste of money. Especially with our money being tight! Oh well, we still love life and each other.

Cake Decorating!

So me and my friends decided to do a cake decorating class and increase our craftiness. We signed up at Michaels for a 4 week course. This is my first cake...there are many flaws but at least you can tell what it is supposed to be. FYI we were rushed and only had 30 minutes to finish our cakes (and that is why it's not completey finished and a little weird looking). It's been a lot of fun and I'll keep posting my next class projects--this week it's cupcakes!!

So, if you all knew what an ugly dresser we had before. I didn't take a picture, although I wish I had! I'll try and describe it. It was brown fading and had scruffs on it, the drawer handles were gold and looked like door knockers. So Neal and I decided to sand it down and paint it black instead of buying a new one. Here's the finished product! It only cost about $30 to paint, sand, and buy new handles, much better than a $200 dresser! We do have to give a shout out to my parents who gave us the dresser in the first place...Thank you Mom and Dad Bodily! While we were at it,we decided with the left over paint to paint our nightstand, which was white and stained. Plus now it matches the dresser. They both turned out much better than expected! Gotta love projects around the house!
