This morning Neal and I went door to door for Proposition 8. If this Prop. 8 passes it will state in the state constitution that "Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California." This is so important that the First Presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints asked the members here to get involved. So on the ballot in November the people of California are going to be able to vote to protect marriage between a man and woman. If this does not pass, churches may be sued over their tax exempt status if they refuse to allow same-sex marriage ceremonies in their religious buildings open to the public, children would be taught in public schools that same-sex marriage is the same as traditional marriage, and ministers who preach against same-sex marriages may be sued for hate speech and risk government fines (this has already happened in Canada where they legalized gay marriage.) There are so many more consequences that may happen if this fails to pass that it's scary! In the Family Proclamation to the World it states "marriage between a MAN and WOMAN is ordained of God." ProtectMarriage.comHere's a pic of me and Neal hitting the street and educating people about Prop. 8. It was pretty scary at first. Lots of DOGS barking and not knowing what to say but it went fairly well I think. I got a little taste of what being a missionary is like! It's tough stuff.
